In 2020 Soltech were awarded a management services contract to provide multiple personnel to assist an O&M department in managing an, in service, array cable replacement. This resulted in field observation of multiple CPS failures. The replacement was successfully concluded.
Further contract awards were granted for, forensic investigations of CPS and cable failure, development of novel in-field survey techniques for quantifying the scale of the problems, management of CPS FEED studies, management support to multiple phases of cable and CPS deployment, and insurance claims support.
During 2025 Soltech delivered a major CPS FEED study, evaluating the current market offering for CPS systems for a major North Sea Windfarm. This study also included modelling of different systems in the relevant water depths and oceanic conditions, revealing that all offered systems required stabilisation. After Study of the differing stabilisation methodologies a comprehensive cost model was submitted identifying major savings that could be achieved using different cable foundation interface techniques.
Soltech has continued to develop these alternative techniques in order to increase the technology readiness level to be suitable for consideration by alternative projects.
We welcome enquiries from all parties wishing to understand more about the optimisation of the cable foundation interface and the potential for cost reduction, when a holistic design approach is used.
